Michael C. Edwards is a managing partner at VPG and leads quality control and ethical oversight. In addition to these duties, Dr. Edwards regularly participates in projects in his capacity as a quantitative psychologist/psychometrician. He earned his PhD in Quantitative Psychology from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. His research is generally focused on modern psychometrics with specific emphases on multidimensional IRT, factor analysis, and computerized adaptive testing. Dr. Edwards has published numerous book chapters and dozens of journal articles in outlets such as Autism, Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, Psychological Assessment, Psychological Methods, and Psychometrika. He has also chaired the College Board’s Digital Testing Psychometric Advisory Team and just recently completed a term on the Psychometric Oversight Committee for the Uniform CPA Exam.
Beginning in 2017, Dr. Edwards joined Arizona State University as an Associate Professor in the quantitative area of the Department of Psychology. Prior to that, he had held Assistant and Associate Professor positions in the Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University. While at OSU, he was chair the Social and Behavioral Sciences institutional review board (IRB), which has enabled him to gain insight into important ethical considerations around data and privacy.
